Zhang Xiong Art correspondence (Article/ Wei Jie Photos/Wang Sanxiu ) Famous Artist Hou Xiaofeng 2015 Painting Art Exhibition was opened in the gallery of Zhang Xiong Academy of Painting and Calligraphy on July 12,2015. The exhibition was co-hosted by Zhang Xiong Art and Culture Co., Ltd. and Xiamen Jiang Shan Xiong Yun Investment Co., Ltd, and co-organized by Gallery of Xiamen Zhang Xiong Academy of Painting and Calligraphy and Zhang Xiong Auction Co., Ltd.. Former Deputy Director of Xiamen NPC Wang Xingyu, former Director General of Xiamen Archives Bureau Zhan Yuwei, Deputy Director of Administrative Committee of Xiamen Gulangyu Island Ye Xizhi, famous art critic Zhang Weixin, President of Xiamen Zhang Xiong Art and Culture Co., Ltd. Zhang Xiong attended the opening ceremony.
More than 60 paintings of Hou Xiaofeng were exhibited mainly with subjects of tropical region of Xishuangbanna. He depicts the folk customs in the “Cultural Desert” Xishuangbanna with distinct brush ink language. We can feel the ardor of hot summer and charming tropical culture as well as the quietness and peace of nature. Ye Xizhi spoke of his feelings of Hou Xiaofeng’s art on the opening ceremony: “Refreshing, natural, wild”

Little but not empty, full but not messed. Hou Xiaofeng’s paintings are either simple and pure or sophisticated and profound. The images under his brush are full of spirituality. More respectable is his sense of responsibility as an artist. As he said in the opening ceremony, Xishuangbanna as a tropical region connected with the mainland has fairly profound culture and many subjects remains undiscovered in this “Cultural Desert”. Therefore, he tries to complete it with the responsibility of an artist, to present the cultural connotations of the tropical region.
The exhibition will last until July 16. All art lovers are welcomed to appreciate and feel the fantastic tropical culture under Hou Xiaofeng’s brush.
